Formerly Irene's
This building is somewhere between 90 and 120 years old. Lots of layers have built up over that time. The bricks are eroded. That is not unusual. The bricks that faced the street were higher-quality in buildings of this era, while the bricks that faced the sides or the rear were more utilitarian. Once the building next door was demolished at some point, and the stucco covering was exposed to the elements, the sun, rain, and ice started doing their work. The sign for Irene's Beer & Wine shop was painted on the side after the stucco began falling away. Then the sloppily-built mount for a flood light, now weathered and broken. Finally, the graffiti tags. Everyone leaves their mark in turn.
